Sara is HMB’s Chief Executive Officer and has a penchant for helping make great professional services firms even better. She has worked with and within the c-suite of billion-dollar businesses to drive profitable growth, attract and enthuse talent and better serve clients.

With over two decades of domestic and international experience in multiple industries, Sara excels at the ideation and execution of innovative business strategy that delivers positive impact. The pillars of her management philosophy are transparency, accountability and profitability – while never losing focus on her steadfast belief that work should also be enjoyable. Her career spans multiple executive roles within public, private and family-owned businesses.

Previously, Sara served as the first COO in Alvarez & Marsal’s business consulting and transformation practice. She held successive roles at Deloitte Consulting U.K. and U.S., spending the majority of her time in client service working on complex mergers and acquisitions largely within the financial services and utilities industries. While at Deloitte, she also helped lead National Inclusion for Consulting where she was responsible for talent strategy and execution in an organization of 20K+ employees. While at Alvarez & Marsal, Sara helped establish their first Diversity & Inclusion initiative.

Sara is a previous guest lecturer on strategy, economics and leadership at multiple business schools including Kellogg, Booth, the Johnson School, Fuqua and Olin. She also serves as an adviser to Fortune 500 companies on diversity and inclusion.

Experience

  • Transformed an underperforming and fragmented business unit into the most profitable in the group within 18 months
  • Facilitated the doubling of top-line revenue while tripling bottom-line profits via introducing pragmatic fiscal controls, strengthening accounting and
    HR processes, overhauling contracting and deployment protocols, instituting technology use and business analytics, and engendering a positive culture of engagement and inclusivity that holds leadership accountable for results
  • Recruited by leadership to serve in National Inclusion, responsible for talent strategy and execution in an organization of 20K+ employees
  • Led multifunctional teams delivering merger integration programs, including a $1.3B merger
  • Established the overseas trading arm of a large energy firm, including front-, middle-, and back-office functions starting with an original workforce of 7 and scaling to 70 FTEs within a year
  • Began career as a research scientist for the US government prior to being recruited by the CEO of United Utilities (UK)
