Mark-It Express Logistics LLC ("Mark-It"), a leading Midwest intermodal trucking and freight brokerage company, acquired Spirit Trucking Company ("Spirit"), a Chicago-based trucking company. HMB represented Mark-It in the acquisition of operating assets.
Mark-It, founded in 2009 and recently named to Crain Chicago's Fast 50 for the second time and INC. 5000 for the fourth time, offers a full array of third-party logistics solutions, including local and regional drayage and yard services. Tony Apa, President and Founder of Mark-It, said that "with the Spirit strategic acquisition, our satellite terminals in Detroit, Kansas City and several drop lots in the Chicago area used to park power units, containers and chassis will have significantly increased capacity to service our customers and reduce their costs by having equipment closer to their needs and lowering their overall fuel and labor costs."
With a combined total of 175 trucks, Mark-It will be able to provide additional capacity and enhanced solutions to drive value for customers, drivers and supply chain partners. All Spirit employees will remain with the organization moving forward.
